A Globally Important Bird Area (GIBA), Great Salt Lake is one of 17 sites of Hemispheric Importance in the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN). We have 5-8 million waterfowl and over 1.4 million shorebirds annually. It is an international and local treasure; the largest lake west of the Mississippi River and the fourth largest terminal lake in the world.
